U3B-8 is the 8th U3B test flight, it uses callsign VE3OCL and telemetry channel 1. It uses a single party balloon but is light enough to reach over 10,500m altitude where it is quite safe from most bad weather.

Day 9 update, 14-Sep-2017
U3B-8 was near the Chinese border in the morning but there were no reception reports after 0636Z. There were very few reception reports at all. HB9HD at 0446Z and DM6MK at 0456. Then ony SM7ETW from 0506Z to 0636Z. This remote location is far from WSPR receiving stations and whenever balloons fly through here, reports are always sparse. So don't worry too much if it is very quiet tomorrow. It does not necessarily mean the end...
Day 8 update, 13-Sep-2017
In the last 24 hours U3B-8 has crossed Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan! The previous day, Kazakhstan. So the only 'stan not visited is Pakistan!
Day 7 update, 12-Sep-2017
Slow cruise over Kazakhstan and the Caspian sea today. Things should speed up a bit from here on...
Day 6 update, 11-Sep-2017
The Hysplit projection shows a slow day or two then travelling to the Pacific in the next week.
